"We have not been saved from this world, but we have been saved for this world."
~ Pastor Nick Nilson, LAKEWOOD CHURCH, Saturday December 20, 2014

John 13:3-5
Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

[Prayer]

PACK YOUR BAGS

Feet are not very pretty to Nick.
Not the most attractive; they're kind of nasty and ugly.
Not our greatest attributes.
It takes a move of God for Nick to massage his wife’s feet; even though she has great feet.
Most of us don’t want to display our feet.
Nick showed us pictures of his family.
None of the pictures displayed their feet.
Smiles, teeth, great hair – but not feet.
We like our feet to stay covered and hidden.
But in John 13 Jesus is making a statement bigger than servant leadership.

"It’s better to become who God created you to be than to try to promote yourself to become something you’re not."
Pastor Joel Osteen, Lakewood Church, Sunday December 14, 2014

VICTORIA'S WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT Victoria had idea to give homeless women baskets of toiletries. Told God “I will do what You say”. He gave her opportunity to speak to women about a homeless shelter. Not baskets. Had to let go of her idea for God’s idea. The women were impacted by Victoria’s speech. God had stretched her to a new level with His idea. Ask God to give you another opportunity. To make up lost time. God wants to restore those things that were lost. But don’t look behind. Press forward. God will give you another opportunity. You’ve grown. You’ve changed. You’re prepared. Will it be hard? Probably. God wants people to be sharpened by you. God will open the doors and show you some big things.

"Remember when life counts you out, God counts you in."
~Pastor Joel Osteen, Lakewood Church Sunday 12/7/14

1 Samuel 16:7

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

COUNTED BY THE CREATOR

It’s easy to feel disqualified.
By our mistakes, negative words...
Even our own thoughts.
We’re writing ourselves off.
The prophet came to Jesse’s house to choose the next king.
7 sons.
Samuel was going to choose the big muscular oldest Eliab.

You can continue thanking God.
"I want my life to be a 24/7 thank you." – Darlene Zschech

Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice.
It’s easy to remember.
Israel is fascinated when scripture says something twice.
In Luke 10:38-42 Martha has an attitude because Mary’s not working.
Martha, Martha… [Luke 10:41]
I only want God to call my name once.
Why does He say rejoice twice in Philippians 4:4?

SAYING GOODBYE TO GUILT
Many spend too much time feeling guilty and condemned.
We’ve talked about spiritual growth and maturity this weekend.
Today we’ll talk about how guilt and condemnation trap us and keep us in the same place.
In order to grow spiritually we must learn who we are in Christ.
And He has forgiven us and given us His righteousness. [2 Corinthians 5:21]
Imputed righteousness is a gift from God that enables us to walk in that right standing.
We’ve been given righteousness.
God never expects us to produce something if He didn’t put the seed in us.
The moment you are born again God downloads seeds of His own character inside of us.
We have the fruit of the Holy Spirit. [Galatians 5:22-23]
You have the ability to love people.
Our joy doesn’t have to be based on our circumstances.
There’s no point saying I can’t control myself because the seed is in you.
I am the righteousness of God in Christ.
I am patient.
Some may say "No you’re not."
"All sin can be forgiven, but it must not be ignored."
Joyce Meyer at Lakewood Church Friday 11/14/14

We all want freedom but we’re not all good at facing truth.
Truth is the way things really are.
Not the way we think they are, or wish they were.
Truth is reality from God’s Point of View.
Jesus is the Truth.
He is the Word of Truth.
The Holy Spirit is the spirit of Truth.
John 1:14 And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth.
John 1:17 For while the Law was given through Moses, grace (unearned, undeserved favor and spiritual blessing) and truth came through Jesus Christ.
John 4:24 God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality).
One of Joyce’s favorite scriptures is John 8:32 [the truth will make you free].
We all want to grow spiritually.
If not, we need to examine our whole relationship with God and say "Am I looking at this the right way?"
God wants us to do right and be happy.
But He also wants us to partner with Him to see souls saved.

"Don’t let the facts talk you out of what God put in your heart."
Joel Osteen
Sunday November 16, 2014

Joke:
Elderly couple struggled with memory. The doctor told them to write everything down. Husband went to kitchen to get ice cream for his wife but didn’t write it down. He came back with bacon & eggs. Wife shook her head and said “You forgot my toast.”

Bible Confession:
This is my Bible. I am what it says I am, I have what it says I have, I can do what it says I can do. Today I will be taught the Word of God. I boldly confess my mind is alert, my heart is receptive, I will never be the same. I am about to receive the incorruptible, indestructible, ever-living seed of the Word of God. I'll never be the same; never never never, I'll never be the same, in Jesus name.

Key Scripture:
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;

CHOOSING FAITH IN SPITE OF THE FACTS

There are times with the facts in life are not our friend.
In the natural you don’t see how it could happen.
The facts tell you it won’t work.
You don't have the training, education, etc.
If you just focus on the facts they’ll keep you from your destiny.
The facts can talk you out of your dreams.
The facts will convince you to settle for mediocrity.
I’ve learned God is bigger than the facts.

Word of Encouragement:
Hebrews 10:36 For you have need of steadfast patience and endurance, so that you may perform and fully accomplish the will of God, and thus receive and [a]carry away [and enjoy to the full] what is promised.

Some are weary. Came out to Lakewood to see if Joyce has a Word. God has a good life planned for all of us, but it takes patience. It takes doing the same thing over and over and over again.

America’s Providential History [Book]
Most don’t know the nation’s history.
We have historical amnesia.
We have to know our rights in order to protect them.

Joyce’s new devotional is on thankfulness.

PREPARING FOR CHRIST’S RETURN
Do you think it’s possible Jesus could come back in your lifetime?
Believers have believed that since Jesus died.
Believing that keeps us on the straight and narrow.
This past year God has called her attention to how many things New Testament believers endured.
They stood against selfishness because “the Lord is coming soon”. [Rev 22:12]
They lived with this intense feeling/hope/expectation that the Lord was coming back soon and they wanted to be ready.
We forget that and can get too casual in our walk with God.
How many things would change if you thought Jesus was coming back tomorrow?
Joyce wants us to get to the point where we can say nothing.

John is blessed by being in a faith atmosphere.
People who know there’s power when we worship.
Some may wonder why do we shout/sing/praise?
Why the expressions of exuberance?
Does our worship matter?
We’ll touch on scriptures that give you strength to keep worshiping until your breakthrough comes.
John prayed with some people who are going through difficult things.
It would almost make sense for them not to even be here.
But through their tears they were still praising God.
What do you do when all is falling apart?
When the enemy is pulling out all the stops?
After you’ve sung every song you know and nothing got better?
What if you only had one worship left?

Joke:
A minister trained his horse to respond to the commands Hallelujah (whoa/stop) and Praise the Lord (Giddy-up/go). One day, while riding his horse, the minister decided to gallop. He was galloping along when he noticed a cliff at the end of the trail.  "The law of life always triumphs over death."
~ Pastor Fernando Ruata
John 6:
The Law of Life
Because life always triumphs.
Sometimes God puts us in low places to be agents of redemption, but sometimes we let the low place mentality get in us.
The law of life always triumphs over death.
Jesus is speaking to people who've lost a lot.
It was the sick who were following Jesus.
They were seeing the sick getting healed.
Jesus is surrounded by people with needs.
And He's meeting those needs.
Jesus took what He had, gave thanks to God, and God multiplied it.

Message delivered at Lakewood Church from visiting pastor Robert Madu from Dallas, Texas.

Nobody starts from the bottom.
We stand on the shoulders of the spiritual giants who’ve gone before us.
Once you get a revelation of what God has put in you it will revolutionize everything around you.
Key Scriptures:
2 Timothy 1:1-7
Genesis 2:7

2 Timothy 1:1-7
I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day,  greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy,  when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.  Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.  For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. #DontBeScared

Samaritan Opposition

51 As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. 52 And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him; 53 but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem. 54 When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?” 55 But Jesus turned and rebuked them. 56 Then he and his disciples went to another village.

"You’re one more worship after No before a lifetime of Yes."
~John Gray

John Gray Deeper 2014 8/15/14

WORSHIP AFTER NO

How many are willing to say Yes to God?
God whatever it is – Yes.
Yes is a dangerous word.
Its easy to worship when God says yes.
When God showed up and gave you what you need.
But this is a deeper conference and God wants us to grow up.
And get away from the Santa Claus mentality.
God disciplines and develops us.
If you’re a worship leader you must know God on different levels.
If you want to see how you’ve matured, see where your worship is after God says NO.
"God said Sheryl I AM the man in your life.

Aaron Lindsey Deeper 2014
If you stay ready you never have to get ready.
Transition will numb your heart if you stay there too long.
Transition can be normal and healthy.
It can be extremely beneficial.
But it will not be uneventful.
The difference between transition and change:
Change is external.
I see that you moved to a new city.
Transition is how you adapt to those changes.
God is saying I have so much for you at the next level but I'm waiting for you to transition.
I don't know what will happen at the next level.
I won't say the 3 letter word.
Who Moved the Cheese book has quote.
"When the pain of staying becomes worse than the pain of changing you'll move."
You're in the wrong season.
You've been equipped for something else.
Dressed for summer but it's harvest time.
Just because you won't move.
Then you're seeing someone experience the things of God that He had for you.
Just say YES.
I'd rather be in a tough season with the hand of the Lord upon me than in a season of comfort without Him.

Key Verse: Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Shine Brightly

How you live sends a message to those around you.
People are watching how you live.
How you respond to adversity.
Are you kind?
That’s the best witness.
Actions speak louder than words.
Your life is your message.
Scripture says we have the power to be witnesses.
When people see you living a life of excellence and integrity it has a greater impact than anything you could ever say.
If you complain your example will override what you say.

Joke:
There were two farmers: a positive farmer and a negative farmer. Whenever it would rain the positive farmer would say, “Thank goodness for the rain – now we don’t even have to water the crops.” The negative farmer would say, “If this keeps up it will rot their roots and we won’t have any crops to harvest”. The sun would come out and the positive farmer would say, “Thank goodness for the sunshine. Now our crops are getting the vitamins and minerals they really need.” The negative farmer would say, “If this keeps up it will scorch them and we won’t be able to make a living.” One day they went hunting together and the positive farmer brought along his new bird dog. Once they were out in the middle of a lake in a boat, the positive farmer took aim and shot a bird. He then turned to the negative farmer and said, “Watch this.” The bird dog jumped out of the boat and miraculously ran on top of the water, picked up the bird, turned around and ran back to the boat on top of the water, before setting the bird perfectly in the boat in front of the positive farmer. The positive farmer looked at the negative farmer and asked, “What do you think?” The negative farmer shook his head and said, “Just as I thought, that dog can’t even swim.”

Following are my notes from the message delivered by Angela Ruata at Encourager Church 4/6/14. It's an encouraging messaging for anyone who has lost hope, given up on dreams, or feels that their "promise from God" is dying. The message includes biblical examples of Hagar, Ruth, and Mary the mother of Jesus. I pray you are blessed by it.

His wife Angie shared a word with him that he wants her to share with the congregation.

My notes from Joyce Meyer's message

at Lakewood Church Sunday 2 Feb 2014   11 am service. This message focuses on the need to have an unselfish attitude. I am not affiliated with Joyce Meyer Ministries other than being a partner and volunteer. These are my personal notes, not an exact transcript.

Joyce is talking about attitudes.

Attitudes are your thought life turned inside out.

We can decide what kind of attitude we will have.

God said I set before you life and death choose life.

God has set before us the ability to choose a good attitude or a bad attitude.

Choose a good attitude.

My notes from Joyce Meyer's message on Sunday 2/2/14 8:30 am Service at Lakewood Church.
This is the second message in the three part series on attitude. This message focuses on developing a patient attitude. Joyce lays out five areas of impatience people need to address. I am not affiliated with Joyce Meyer Ministries (other than being a partner and volunteer). These are my personal notes of her message; not an exact transcript.

This year it’s been on Joyce’s heart to preach about attitude.

We can’t do anything apart from God but anything God asks us to do He gives us the ability to do.

Everybody wants to have a good life.

But not everybody is doing what they need to be doing to have that life.

Passivity is one of the devil’s greatest deceptions.

Very few people are willing to do what’s right even if they’re the only one that’s doing it.

Today we’re talking about a patient attitude.
