Isaiah 54:4
Well it's been a while since I published sermon notes. I moved, and was without internet for a while during transition. The notes for this message were taken in April but I wasn't able to publish and share. Better late than never. :) I hope to return to sharing notes with you regularly again.
God bless you,

Key Scripture: Isaiah 54:4
We all know the expression shame on you.
Woman had a baby and gave it up for adoption as teen.
Couldn’t sleep; kept hearing 'shame on you'.
People abused as a child blame themselves.
Many people are living in a prison of shame.
Blaming themselves for things that weren’t their fault.
God has removed our shame.
Whether it was your fault or someone else’s—
When the enemy says shame on you God says shame off you.
People don’t determine your worth.
Your worth comes from the Most High God.
Don’t be flippant, but don’t let shame follow you around.
The young lady asked if God would forgive her.
Yes but will you forgive yourself?
You have to tune out accusing voices.
God forgives you and doesn’t remember it anymore.
When someone has been abused for a long time they start accepting the blame.
They’re not only ashamed of what’s happened; they’re ashamed of who they are.
That’s how the enemy twists things.
This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt.
They couldn’t go in to the Promised Land with the shame.
God had to remove the reproach.
Whatever your Egypt is- God is rolling away the stone.
Let go of your failure.
The reproach has been rolled away.
When the thoughts say “shame on you” say shame off me.
Married man got involved with another woman.
He felt so badly he asked God to forgive him but year after year he felt bad.
He couldn’t forgive himself.
One day a respected minister said whatever’s holding you back that power is broken today.
The reproach is being rolled away so step into your Promised Land.
The man wept and felt release.
A stronghold broken.
For years he’d allowed the accuser to pile on all that shame.
Maybe you know God has forgiven you but you still have a sense of unworthiness.
That shame has held you back long enough.
God is saying shame off you.
Get into agreement.
Don’t believe you have to settle for 2nd best.
Nothing you’ve done is a surprise to God.
He had the solution before you had the problem.
Don’t let one negative event become your identity.
It’s easy to let the blame consume you.
You become known as the person who did ---
That’s not who you are, it’s what happened.
You may struggle with an addiction but you are not an addict.
You are a child of the Most High God.
You may have failed in business but you are not a failure.
I am not who people say I am.
I am who God says I am.
I am accepted, approved, valuable – a masterpiece.
Isaac named his son Jacob, which means trickster, swindler.
Jacob became exactly what people called him.
Later in life Jacob got tired of living that way.
He got alone with God.
What’s your name?
Jacob
The angel said you are not Jacob.
You are not a deceiver.
God has a new name for you.
Israel.
Israel means Prince with God.
God took this man that lived a life of dishonesty and called him son.
I’ve called you to be a prince and reign in life.
First thing God had to do is get the shame off him.
Have you allowed people to label you?
Tell you that you don’t deserve to be blessed?
Maybe you’ve made some poor choices
- But God’s changing your name to prince/princess, highly favored.
Jacob got into agreement with God.
He asked for favor.
God liked Jacob’s boldness.
God blesses belief.
Even if you’re struggling in an area there’s no shame in asking for help.
Don’t let shame keep you isolated.
Real healing begins when you get honest.
Confess your faults one to another and you’ll be healed.
Find someone you can trust to walk with you.
Don’t let the fear of what others think keep you from your miracle.
Noah was building an ark one day, but getting drunk and naked another.
Most likely what you struggle with didn’t start with you.
But you can break the cycle in your family.
Shake off the shame.
Ask God to help you.
You can overcome anything that’s holding you back.
Joel got letter from girl who struggled with anorexia.
She was cutting herself.
She came from respected family and was embarrassed.
The enemy loves to heap guilt and shame upon us.
She wouldn’t look people in the eyes.
She saw Joel on TV say God will heal you.
She decided to quit pretending.
She told her parents and they got her the help she needed.
Today she’s free and she’s a counselor helping other young ladies.
Some people are ashamed because of something that wasn’t that fault.
The enemy will tell you that you deserved it.
You can’t help how others treated you.
God promised to be your vindicator.
God saw the injustice.
Isaiah 54:4 "Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.
God will bless you so much you won’t worry anymore.
What they did didn’t change your identity.
You’re still destined to do great things.
Put on some new labels.
Accepted, approved, Child of the Most High God.
Isaiah 61:7 Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.
Stay in faith and get ready.
God will pay you back double.
Your life will be richer because of that injustice.
But don’t go around feeling guilty and ashamed.
Nothing you did or that was done to you changed your identity.
God’s plans are still for good and not evil.
A setup for God to bring you out with double.
Woman was born out of wedlock and felt unworthy.
Illegitimate.
She felt inferior.
She felt ashamed.
She heard Joel talking about worth coming from God not people.
Something exploded in her.
No matter what my birth certificate says I am legitimate.
God breathed life into me.
She doesn’t remember the shame of her youth.
The reproach has been rolled away.
[Prayer]
